Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav visited and reviewed the functioning of the Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Chedema in Kohima. During the visit, he met doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and hospital officials, and commended them for their role in providing healthcare services to people across Nagaland.
Hospital praised for holistic care and past COVID-19 service
The Governor highlighted the hospital’s focus on holistic healthcare and said it offers a “centre of healing and hope” for local residents. He also recalled that the 50-bedded facility, inaugurated on March 4, 2022, was Nagaland’s first designated COVID-19 hospital during the pandemic.

Officials briefed him on the hospital’s services and outreach work. The hospital, located at Razha Chedema about 24 km from Kohima on the Phek–Meluri–Zunheboto road, serves eight surrounding villages. It is one of only three integrated AYUSH hospitals in the country, offering Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, and Homoeopathy.
Hospital staff also shared details about activities and patient services. The facility is supported by 43 staff members. Up to June 2026, it recorded more than 10,050 outpatient consultations and treated 560 in-patients. Services include free Ayurveda and Homoeopathy medicines, laboratory services at nominal charges, Panchakarma therapy, naturopathy treatment, clinical yoga sessions, and emergency care, including initial support for road accident victims before referral to the Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima.
Governor asks officials to expand public outreach and access
In the review meeting, the Governor said the discussions were meant to assess achievements, identify challenges, and plan steps to strengthen the hospital’s infrastructure, services and outreach. He urged the staff to keep working with dedication and innovation so the hospital can become a model centre for integrated healthcare. He also encouraged further public outreach to expand access to quality AYUSH services across the state.
The briefing covered training and academic activities as well. These include yoga instructor training programmes, medicinal plant workshops, Prakriti assessments for security personnel, exposure visits, and internships for students. The hospital also runs outreach initiatives such as free health camps, village awareness programmes, and radio talks promoting AYUSH systems. It observes days like International Yoga Day, World Homoeopathy Day, International Ayurveda Day, Doctors’ Day, International Nurses Day, and World Environment Day.
