Sikkim rapper Gyuremey Namgyal Bhutia, popularly known as Gyud Boy, has entered the Top 10 of Nephop Ko Shreepech Season 3, Nepal’s rap reality show. He is from Mangalbaria in West Sikkim and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Namchi Government College.
His journey to the current stage has drawn support from people across the state, especially through public voting. In an interview, he described moving through multiple rounds, starting with an online digital audition, then a physical audition in Itahari, and later a grand audition in Kathmandu.

From auditions to judge rounds
After clearing the judges’ rounds, the competition shifted to a vote-based stage, where public support helped him reach the Top 10. He said the show had over 20,000 contestants participating in auditions, and that the competition later became more challenging as the show progressed.
Gyud Boy also said judges had appreciated his performances throughout the show. He shared that last week he was named Performer of the Week, which he described as a confidence boost. He added that the judging panel includes notable figures from Nepal’s hip-hop scene, such as UNB, YODDA, Manas Ghale and VYOMA.
Voting support and a QR code system
The rapper said there are now two representatives from Sikkim in the competition. Along with him, fellow Sikkimese rapper Suraj Sewa, known as Bursting Jazzy, has also advanced to the current stage.
With public voting central to the next phase, Gyud Boy urged viewers in Sikkim to keep supporting him. He also explained the voting method for supporters in India, saying organisers have introduced an alternative system using QR codes on contestants’ official promotional posters. According to him, the collected amount is used by the organisers’ team in Nepal to cast official votes through the designated voting application.
