Mizo boxer NT. Lalbiakkima wins main bout at Punch Boxing 13th Edition in Greater Noida

NT. Lalbiakkima, a professional boxer from Mizoram who fights under the ring name ‘Zo Keite’, won the main event at the Punch Boxing 13th Edition held at EXPOINN Hotel in Greater Noida on July 18. In the featured bout, he faced Nepal’s Lal Prasad Upreti.

Lalbiakkima secured the victory through a unanimous decision, with the judges ruling in his favour across the bout. The event brought together Indian and international fighters for professional boxing matches, with regional boxers taking part across multiple bouts.

Main event win marks a return to the ring

The win also came after a difficult phase in Lalbiakkima’s personal life. Over the past few years, he experienced several family losses, including the deaths of his wife in December 2023 and his mother in February 2026. His father had passed away earlier, in 2016.

For this bout, Lalbiakkima trained at HB Boxing & Alter SnC under coach H. Lalrinhlua. His support team included C. Lalruatfela (Lalbawiha) and Mapuia, who worked with him ahead of the main event.

A track record in national and international bouts

Lalbiakkima is among Mizoram’s more accomplished boxers. He won a bronze medal at the 2018 President’s Cup in Kazakhstan and became the first Indian boxer to defeat reigning Olympic champion Hasanboy Dusmatov of Uzbekistan in an international competition. He later won silver at the 2017 Elite Men’s National Boxing Championships and bronze at the 2015 Senior National Championships.

He competes in the light flyweight division and has been among India’s leading professional boxers in his weight class. In 2021, he challenged for the International Boxing Association (IBA) Intercontinental title. Following his latest win, he received congratulations from leaders in Mizoram, with supporters highlighting his perseverance and his representation of Siaha district and the state.
