AYUSH holds Yoga and wellness outreach at SAP Training HQ in Pangthang ahead of IDY 2026
Department of AYUSH, Government of Sikkim, organised a Yoga and wellness outreach at SAP Training Headquarters, Pangthang, ahead of International Day of Yoga 2o
The Department of AYUSH, Government of Sikkim, conducted a Yoga and wellness outreach programme at the Sikkim Armed Police Training Headquarters (SAPTHQ) in Pangthang as part of the countdown to International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026. The programme was organised by AYUSH Medical Officers from the 10-Bedded AYUSH Hospital, Gangtok.
About 130 officers, staff and jawans took part in a one-hour Yoga session. The session focused on physical fitness, stress management, resilience, and healthy aging, with activities planned around keeping the body active and supporting mental well-being.

Yoga enrolment drive for Guinness World Record attempt
A mass enrolment activity was also carried out for the HABUILD Guinness World Record Attempt. The initiative is part of the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and is aimed at achieving the highest number of online Yoga participants. Participants were guided through the enrolment process as part of the event countdown.
In addition to the group session, 78 personnel availed consultations in Yoga and Naturopathy. Medical officers provided lifestyle counselling linked to prevention and management of non-communicable diseases. The counselling covered topics such as stress reduction, improving sleep, regulating diet, and promoting holistic health.
Therapeutic services under one outreach programme
Therapeutic services were offered to 60 personnel by the Medical Officers (Yoga and Naturopathy). The services included acupuncture and allied methods such as electro and moxibustion, along with physical manipulation and myofascial fire cupping therapy. Participants also received therapeutic exercises and individualized Yoga therapy. Naturopathy-based interventions were provided for areas such as pain management, musculoskeletal concerns, occupational stress, and other lifestyle-related health issues.
The organisers said the programme combined Yoga practice, preventive healthcare, lifestyle medicine, and therapeutic services at a single location. The outreach also aimed to support operational fitness and healthy aging through non-pharmacological approaches.
