Nagaland guitarist Arenlong joins Strandberg Guitars’ endorsed artist roster

Arenlong, a guitarist and composer from Nagaland, has been named an official endorsed artist by Swedish guitar manufacturer Strandberg Guitars. The announcement marks the outcome of a relationship that began about six years ago, after the musician first came to the company’s notice through a national contest.

From contest win to official partnership

Arenlong won the Strandberg Guitar Contest in India in 2020. That win brought him to the attention of the company, and the association has now moved into an endorsed artist partnership. Strandberg Guitars was founded by Swedish luthier Ola Strandberg in 2012, and it is known for ergonomic designs, including headless guitars.

The company says it is widely recognized in progressive rock, metal and fusion circles. Its artist roster includes internationally known guitarists such as Plini, Richard Henshall, Per Nilsson and Jake Bowen. With this endorsement, Arenlong joins a group of artists associated with contemporary progressive guitar music.

EP, contest wins, and collaborations

Arenlong’s career includes both solo and collaborative work. He released his debut EP, Willow, in 2022. Earlier achievements include winning the Boss Guitar Maestro Contest in 2015, the National Guitar Solo Contest in 2014, and the Best Guitarist award at the Hornbill International Rock Contest in 2013.

Beyond contests, he has also taken part in other music projects. Arenlong has been part of the NAMMA Music Artist Roster and worked on the EP Treekam with Abhay Nayampally, J-Rod Sullivan and producer Sandeep Chowta. He has also been an endorsed artist for Hotone Audio and SIT Strings.

In his update about the partnership, Arenlong also highlighted support from a Mumbai-based music retailer, The Stockist. The retailer carries premium guitar brands such as Strandberg, Taylor, Suhr and Mayones, and he credited it with improving access to high-end instruments during his journey with the brand.
