53 families join BJP in Pakyong District after district coordination meeting

A district-level coordination meeting held at Rhenock Tarpin in Pakyong District saw the BJP expand its organisational base. State BJP president DR Thapa attended the meeting along with general secretary Dinesh Chandra Nepal, state executive members, district leaders, Mandal functionaries, Morcha representatives and party karyakartas.
According to a BJP press release, the event included the formal joining of 53 families from across Pakyong District into the BJP Sikkim family. Party leaders said the new members came forward inspired by what the party described as the idea of good governance and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP leaders welcome new members and set priorities
Speaking to the gathering, Thapa welcomed the families and urged them to work with dedication for public service, strengthening the organisation and nation building. He also referenced the government’s development direction under Modi and said India was moving toward the goal of Viksit Bharat.
Thapa expressed concern about local political leaders, saying some of them promote divisive politics and push a confrontational culture among youth. He appealed to young people to avoid such influences and instead choose paths like self-employment, entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
Youth focus and discussion on NEET-related concerns
BJYM State president Lalit Pokhrel Sharma highlighted youth-focused initiatives linked to the Modi government, saying programmes aimed at entrepreneurship, skill development and employment are creating opportunities. Sharma also addressed NEET-related issues and urged young people not to be misled by what he described as anti-social elements and politically motivated propaganda.
The meeting began with a welcome address by Pakyong District president Prem Chettri, who said the district unit is committed to strengthening the party at the grassroots level. District vice president Yadu Sharma coordinated the proceedings. The BJP release said the event ended with renewed commitment from leaders and party workers to further strengthen the organisation across Pakyong District and work toward a developed, self-reliant Sikkim in line with the goals of Viksit Sikkim and Viksit Bharat.
