The programme will follow instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The National Song, Vande Mataram, will be sung when the chief minister arrives at the state-level venue. It will then be followed by the National Flag hoisting and the National Anthem. After the chief minister’s address, Vande Mataram will be sung again, followed by the National Anthem once more.

District celebrations and public participation

Independence Day programmes will also be held across districts and sub-divisions. Deputy chief ministers, ministers, advisors and respective ADCs and SDOs will hoist the National Flag there and take the Rashtriya Salute. The state Home Department said the same sequence for Vande Mataram and the National Anthem will be followed at the local level.

During the singing of Vande Mataram, the Home Department said members of the audience are expected to stand at attention, as they do during the National Anthem. The department has invited citizens to participate in the celebrations at the state capital and in their respective districts and sub-divisions.

The Kohima event will be livestreamed on the official YouTube channel of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Nagaland. The programme at the state-level venue will also include a march past, along with cultural and entertainment programmes.
