A.B. Subba elected president of SYSS during general meeting in Gangtok

A.B. Subba was unanimously elected president of SukhimYakthungSapsokSongchumbho (SYSS) during the organisation’s general meeting held at Limboo Bhawan (Yakthung Him) in Gangtok on July 26. The election resulted in the selection of a new governing team for a three-year term.

New executive committee formed

The meeting also unanimously elected Raju Limboo, Bijoy Pratap Hang Subba, Arpan Subba and D.P. Limboo as vice-presidents. Gulshan Subba was chosen as general secretary-I, while Ganesh Kumar Limboo was named general secretary-II. Suk Bir Subba was elected treasurer, and Amrita Limboo and Indra Subba were selected as assistant treasurers.

The election process was conducted under the chairmanship of retired IPS officer Oma Hang Subba, a former Special Director General of Police and former chairman of the Sikkim Public Service Commission. Senior community members, dignitaries, and Limboo community members from all six districts of Sikkim attended the meeting.

Deliberations and priorities for the term

Members from different districts shared their views during detailed deliberations before the new governing body was unanimously elected. In his acceptance speech, A.B. Subba thanked members for their confidence in the newly elected team and said the committee will work with integrity, transparency, accountability, inclusiveness, and dedication for the welfare and advancement of the Limboo community.

He also reaffirmed the organisation’s focus on preserving and promoting Limboo language, culture, traditions, and heritage. The president-elect said SYSS will work to strengthen community institutions and support greater participation of youth and women, while fostering unity among community members across the State.

Earlier, outgoing SYSS president C.S. Limboo highlighted the organisation’s achievements and called for continued unity to protect and promote the Limboo community’s language, culture, and traditions.
