Gangtok saw a courtesy meeting between the Chief Minister’s communication team and the newly elected executives of the Press Club of Sikkim (PCS). Yougan Tamang, Press Secretary to the Chief Minister, and Dichen Ongmu Bhutia, Media Coordinator to the Chief Minister, met the PCS executive body to congratulate them and share briefings on recent developments in press and media affairs in the state.

Briefing on recent press and media developments

Before this meeting, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay had met the PCS executives on June 8. During that earlier interaction, he congratulated the new term leadership and assured continued government support for activities linked to press and media development.

After meeting the PCS team, Yougan Tamang said the new executive body, with its mix of youthful energy and experience, could strengthen the club’s role in serving both the state and the media fraternity. He also highlighted the importance of a free and responsible media in supporting democracy in the state, and expressed that he looked forward to the club’s continued contribution.

Talks also touched on upcoming Foundation Day

Dichen Ongmu Bhutia shared updates on ongoing press and media developments in Sikkim. She congratulated the newly elected team and wished them well for the upcoming PCS Foundation Day, indicating that the club’s next public milestone is already being planned.

PCS president Samir Hang Limboo thanked the Chief Minister’s officials for the courtesy call and the messages of support for the new term. The interaction concluded with mutual appreciation for the work of the press community and the club’s plans for the period ahead.
