Six-day programme outline and key venues

The executive body reviewed the official programme for the six-day celebration from August 3 to August 8, 2026. The plan includes the Tendong Knowledge Series on August 3 at the NCRT Hall, Helipad area. An open market called Yongthom is scheduled from August 4 to August 7 at Ridge Park (White Hall), with evening programmes planned from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and a possible extension up to 8:30 PM if needed.

The event will conclude on August 8 at Manan Kendra, where the Chief Minister of Sikkim will attend as the chief guest. The review also focused on how the programme should run smoothly across the three main venues.

Department-wise responsibilities for operations and services

To support safe and orderly celebrations, the District Collector assigned responsibilities to multiple departments. Sikkim Police and the Traffic Department were tasked with security arrangements and traffic management. The Fire Department will keep personnel and specialised firefighting equipment ready at key venues.

The Public Health Engineering Department will ensure safe drinking water for commercial and food stalls and support sanitation across event areas. The Gangtok Municipal Corporation will handle cleanliness, waste management, and venue maintenance, along with dedicated water support at Ridge Park. The Power Department will coordinate with the organising committee for uninterrupted electricity and power backup at all three venues.

For additional facilities, the Forest Department will erect and beautify the ceremonial entrance gate at Manan Kendra for the main programme day, in coordination with the organising committee. Health services will be managed through STNM Hospital, with mobile emergency medical teams planned for the respective dates at each venue. The meeting also stressed timely preparation, strict safety protocol, and close coordination among all departments.
