Mangan Dream Dance Academy was inaugurated in Mangan in North Sikkim on June 14. The programme was led by the Chairperson of the Sikkim Art, Culture and Heritage Development Board, Sanjay Dilpali Rai.
Several guests attended the event, including the President of the Mangan Nagar Panchayat, Tshering Doma Bhutia. Representatives from the North District Cricket Association and the All Sikkim Dance Institutes’ Association were also present, along with members from Devot Art and ‘Nari of Today’ Mangan. Students, parents and local community members participated in the function.

Focus on children and cultural growth
Speaking at the inauguration, Chairperson Sanjay Dilpali Rai congratulated the members of Mangan Dream Dance Academy for reaching a major milestone. He said dance and cultural activities play an important role in society, especially for the holistic development of children. He highlighted how such activities can support creativity, confidence, discipline and cultural awareness among young people.
Rai also outlined the state government’s efforts to promote arts and culture in Sikkim. He noted that the government provides opportunities and platforms for artists and cultural groups, along with recognition and financial assistance. According to the address, this backing helps artists preserve cultural heritage and continue their work with more support. He added that the government’s approach aims not only to recognize talent but also to strengthen skills and professionalism for both budding and experienced artists.
Gratitude and felicitation at the event
Tshering Doma Bhutia, speaking on behalf of the academy, expressed gratitude to the state government, the board chairperson, and the All Sikkim Dance Institutes’ Association for their support. She said the academy is committed to nurturing artistic talent and promoting cultural excellence in the region.
As part of the inaugural programme, the academy also held a felicitation ceremony. Individuals and organisations were honoured for their contribution and support toward promoting arts, culture and community development in Mangan.
