Lt Gen A. Raman-MM, newly appointed Longvibu of the NSCN/GPRN Eastern Flank, has accused former Longvibu Anthony Ningkhan Shimray of authorising an operation in 2019 that led to the killing of Arunachal Pradesh MLA Tirong Aboh. Raman said Shimray, instead of taking responsibility, shifted blame onto subordinate soldiers.
Raman made the allegation during his felicitation programme at Mt Horeb Camp in Myanmar on July 29, 2026. He also said the question of integrity within the “formation” and the chain of command in the Naga Army has been raised since the incident, according to his remarks during the programme.
Appointment and remarks at Mt Horeb Camp
Raman was appointed as the new Longvibu of the Naga Army, Eastern Flank, by Ikato I. Chishi Swu, chairman of the Provisional Government of the NSCN/GPRN, on July 24, 2026. In his address, he criticised what he described as the handling of political processes and said the ceasefire-related framework has been affected by steps taken by the Government of India.
Raman alleged that the Government of India “betrayed” the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015. He also referred to an August to October 2019 ultimatum given by the government, saying this ended what he called the spirit of the ceasefire agreement.
Criticism of talks and call for resistance
He further alleged that some NSCN/GPRN leaders at Hebron came under pressure and changed their position. Raman said peaceful political dialogue, in his view, was being driven by force and power rather than justice and trust. He argued that revolutionary patriots should continue both political and armed resistance, saying this is necessary to protect the “sovereign existence” of the Naga nation.
Raman urged Nagas to stay vigilant and said adversaries, along with “compromised” elements within the community, were trying to bring the political issue to an end within the Union and Constitution of India. He also questioned those he described as working in collusion with adversaries and said “the time to decide is now.”
