NSCN/GPRN Eastern Flank announces provisional government and rejects expulsion orders
NSCN/GPRN Eastern Flank says it formed a provisional government at an emergency meeting in Myanmar, renews a covenant for Nagalim for Christ, and calls certain
The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (NSCN/GPRN) Eastern Flank, operating in the Myanmar region, has announced the formation of a provisional government. The decision was taken during an Extraordinary Joint Emergency Meeting held at Mt. Horep Camp in Myanmar on July 21, according to a statement issued by Edward Sayai, Additional Secretary to the NSCN/GPRN.
Emergency meeting adopted multiple resolutions
The meeting was convened, the statement said, due to a perceived threat to the “sovereign existence” of the Naga nation. It brought together Civil National Workers and Naga Army officers of the Eastern Flank, and was chaired by Lieut. Gen. (Retd.) Hs. Ramsan-VC. Several resolutions were adopted unanimously during the session.
One of the resolutions was to renew the covenant with God through “Nagalim for Christ.” The statement also said the Eastern Flank reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the Naga national principle for the sovereign existence of the Naga nation.
Null and void: expulsion orders and “Competencies”
The meeting also declared that expulsion orders issued by the NSCN/GPRN against several Eastern Flank leaders are null and void. The statement named Lieut. Gen. (Retd.) Hs. Ramsan-VC and Lieut. Gen. A. Raman-MM, MC, among those affected. The Eastern Flank alleged that the expulsion process was designed to silence veterans and push for a compromise.
It further rejected what it called “Competencies” submitted to the Government of India. The statement said the leadership’s “Competencies” compromise and surrender the right to sovereign existence within the Union/Constitution of India, and it described this as a violation of the party manifesto and the Preamble of the Yehzabo (Naga Constitution). It also referred to a three-month ultimatum described as running from August to October 2019, linked to a condition against talks on a separate flag and separate constitution, while the Eastern Flank leadership continued negotiations, according to the statement.
Additionally, the statement referenced an earlier threat issued by NSCN/GPRN Chief Political Negotiator General Secretary/Ato Kilonser Th. Muivah on November 7, 2024, saying the NSCN would resume armed resistance if the political initiative was rejected. The Eastern Flank said the leadership at Hebron/General Headquarters did not take steps it described as required in that communication.
