Executives of the newly elected Press Club of Sikkim (PCS) met Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) on Wednesday at Mintokgang. The meeting was a courtesy call by the PCS executive committee.
The delegation was led by PCS president Samir Hang Limboo. The Chief Minister said he was pleased to meet the newly elected body and noted that it brings together youthful energy, enthusiasm, and experience. He indicated that this mix would help strengthen the role of the Press Club in supporting both media professionals and society.
Welfare and development issues discussed
During the meeting, the PCS executives submitted representations related to the welfare and development of the Press Club of Sikkim. They also raised matters connected to the interests of its members. According to the PCS release, the Chief Minister responded positively to the issues and assured the delegation of the government’s support.
The Chief Minister also assured that his administration would cooperate for the timely resolution of the concerns raised by the Press Club. The meeting included a discussion on how the Press Club can continue to contribute to strengthening the media environment in the state.
Foundation Day wishes
Along with the discussions, the Chief Minister extended his best wishes for the upcoming PCS Foundation Day, scheduled for July 17. He said he looks forward to the Press Club’s continued contribution towards promoting responsible journalism and supporting the overall media landscape in Sikkim.
