What happens after the prelims

Technothlon is organised by students of IIT Guwahati under the Techniche banner. According to the organisers, the competition has been conducted for more than two decades, with student-led coordination each year. This year, the prelims were led by a group of student chief organisers, including Ritik, Poulomi, Shreshtha, Deep, Kabya and Uday, along with student volunteers.

After the prelims, the top 25 teams from each of the two categories—Hauts and Juniors—will qualify for the Mains. The Mains will be held at the IIT Guwahati campus during Techniche, the institute’s annual techno-management festival, scheduled for August. Along with competing in the final round, shortlisted students will also take part in activities connected to technology, innovation and research during the festival.

Prizes and learning experiences

Organisers said the Grand Champions in each category will receive cash prizes worth more than Rs 2.7 lakh. They will also get an educational visit to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The organisers added that previous editions have also included educational visits linked to NASA.

Technothlon is conducted under the motto “Inspiring Young Minds”. The organisers said they aim to encourage logical thinking, curiosity and problem-solving among school students as the event moves to its final stage at IIT Guwahati.
