Popular Sikkim singer Pritam Rai, along with other local artists, has announced a new singing reality show called Sikkim Singing Star 2026. The announcement was made during a press conference in Gangtok on Sunday.
The organisers said the show is planned as a collective effort by artists from Sikkim. They described it as an open competition meant to give a platform to aspiring singers and to support the State’s music culture.
Open competition with no age or document restrictions
According to the organising committee, the competition is open to Nepali musical talents. They said there will be no restrictions based on age or documents, which they framed as an invitation for anyone with a passion for music to participate.
The committee listed members including Pritam Rai, Riwaz Gurung, Sombir Rai, Nischal Raj Dewan, Suman Rai, Dinesh Dahal, Prakash Basnet, and LB Baraily. The organisers also said the show is conceived and managed by artists themselves, with an aim to uplift the music scene rather than undermine other platforms or artists.
Registration open; auditions across districts and beyond
For participation, the organisers said online registration is now open through a QR code shared on their social media platforms. The last date for registration is August 25, after which physical auditions will begin.
Auditions will be held across all six districts of Sikkim. They will also extend to nearby regions such as Darjeeling, Siliguri, Mirik, and parts of Assam, and other locations. The organisers added that Nepali-speaking participants from around the world are eligible to compete.
As part of the competition, they said the winner will receive an international tour. They also noted that the show will include social awareness elements, with messages against drugs and crime carried alongside the musical journey.
The organisers said one special episode will spotlight contestants’ original compositions. They also mentioned training and mentorship components to help participants build skills and prepare for wider platforms. Details about judges, prizes, and other aspects will be shared later.
