Dimapur Police seize suspected cocaine, five held in interstate courier syndicate probe

Dimapur Police say they have busted an alleged interstate cocaine trafficking syndicate and arrested five people during an anti-narcotics operation. Police described the case as a planned network that moved the suspected drug across states using logistics and delivery channels.

Case registered under NDPS Act

Police said the investigation led to the seizure of around 33 grams of suspected cocaine, which has been sent for forensic examination. A case has been registered at the West Police Station in Dimapur under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

According to police, the alleged network procured and distributed cocaine through commercial courier and parcel delivery services. Investigators said the syndicate relied on a chain of suppliers, handlers, and delivery agents, with roles clearly assigned across the process.

Arrests and alleged roles across states

Police named those arrested as Tohuka Sema alias Toka, Yeka Awomi, Biresh Kumar, Akhtar Hussain, and Swantheiba Inkah. Police said Tohuka Sema is alleged to be a major cocaine supplier based in Dimapur. They also said Yeka Awomi was arrested in Pune, Maharashtra, while Biresh Kumar and Akhtar Hussain were arrested in Delhi.

Police added that Swantheiba Inkah was allegedly involved as a delivery agent who helped facilitate movement and delivery. Police also stated that two other accused are believed to be outside Nagaland and are absconding, with efforts underway to apprehend them.

Investigators said preliminary findings point to a highly organised operation, including procurement, payment handling, interstate transportation, and courier-based delivery and distribution. Police also claimed the probe has shown alleged interstate and international linkages, including a suspected connection to a Nigerian national.

Dimapur Police said further investigations are in progress to identify additional associates, trace financial transactions, identify customers, and determine the full extent of the network. The police also appealed to the public to share credible information related to narcotics trafficking, assuring confidentiality.
