Protests against an alleged NEET (UG) 2026 question paper leak entered their second day in Mizoram on Wednesday. Demonstrations were held across districts under the banner of the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Mizoram’s apex student body.
The protest movement comes after July 22 solidarity demonstrations organised by a youth group with no link to any political party or organisation. On Wednesday, the MZP coordinated programmes at district headquarters, including events organised by the organisation’s Lunglei and Serchhip units.
MZP adopts six resolutions on NEET controversy
At the gatherings, the MZP adopted six resolutions outlining its position on the NEET examination controversy. The student body condemned the alleged question paper leak and urged the Central Government to take immediate and stringent measures so that such incidents do not repeat.
The resolutions also called for reforms in the National Testing Agency (NTA), saying the exam process should be more transparent, fair, and secure. The MZP further expressed condolences to the families of students who lost their lives in connection with the controversy and demanded that the government provide adequate compensation to affected families.
Protesters decry police action and seek release of leader
In addition, the student body criticised the use of force by police against peaceful protesters. It said such actions have no place in a democratic country and urged that they should not be repeated. The MZP also condemned the detention of protest leader Sonam Wangchuk at Safdarjung Hospital and demanded his immediate and unconditional release.
For the final resolution, the MZP said Mizo students and youth would continue to work together in unity to safeguard their interests, safety, and welfare. The demonstrations in Mizoram were reported as peaceful across the state, continuing wider solidarity that includes student protests taking place in Delhi over alleged examination irregularities.
