Cristiano Ronaldo is officially married. The Portuguese football star exchanged vows with Georgina Rodriguez in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, a coastal town near Lisbon, the couple confirmed.

Marriage confirmed through a photo of wedding bands

Ronaldo and Rodriguez shared a picture on Instagram showing matching gold wedding bands. They chose to confirm the marriage through their post rather than issuing a statement first. After that, a representative later provided a formal confirmation to media outlets.

The representative described the ceremony as private and intimate. Ronaldo and Rodriguez were married in Cascais, and the wedding was attended by their five children. The ceremony brings an end to a long relationship that began in Madrid.

Earlier wedding rumours proved incorrect

In the days leading up to the wedding, confusion spread after rumours pointed to a different venue. On August 8, crowds of fans and journalists gathered at Funchal Cathedral in Madeira, believing it could be the secret wedding location. It later turned out to be a wedding of an unrelated couple. Ronaldo and Rodriguez held their ceremony in Cascais just a few days later, away from the larger crowds.

The timing also carries a personal reference. The wedding took place exactly one year after Georgina’s public engagement announcement on the same date in 2025. Ronaldo, 41, and Rodriguez, 32, met around 2016 in Madrid and later confirmed their engagement in August 2025.

The news arrives while Ronaldo is in a busy phase of his career. He led Portugal in the 2026 World Cup, scoring three goals, and later confirmed that the tournament was his last World Cup appearance. He is also set to begin a new season with Al-Nassr’s Saudi Pro League shortly after the wedding.
